Kaitlin and Wayne’s love story began in 2014 when they met on a dating app and soon bonded over their shared love for Harry Potter. Four years later, Wayne proposed to Kaitlyn at her ultimate dream spot, The Hogwarts Castle, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Disney World, Orlando fl.
A few years prior, I had the honor of photographing Kaitlyn’s friend Shelby’s wedding where Kaitlyn was one of her bridesmaids and now vice versa. In my opinion, the best wedding celebrations come from word of mouth! When Kaitlyn hired me to be their wedding photographer she revealed that they were huge fans of Harry Potter, and that their wedding theme revolved around Harry Potter, complete with velvet Hogwarts robes for the ladies and magic wizard wands for the entire bridal party!
Kaitlyn and Wayne were married on September 17. The day began with preparations at the Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie NY located just miles away from the venue -The Grandview. Kaitlyn’s hair was beautifully done by Alexis from Coven Salon and Spa in Montgomery Ny. Her makeup was done flawlessly by Jillian @Jbeauyt_ny.
Arriving at The Grandview, the couple shared a “first look” where we took great advantage of the grounds, taking portraits in and around the marina with gorgeous views of the Mid Hudson bridge. Even though the weather called for rain, it turned out to be an overcast but beautiful day!
Friends and family soon gathered at the outdoor patio ceremony site where they witnessed the couple tie the knot. After being officially introduced as Mr. and Mrs. by DJ Eric Santana from Right on Cue Productions (who always knows how to get the crowd moving), I took the couple out for a nighttime photo framing the Mid Hudson bridge as my backdrop, which Kaitlyn and Wayne had requested be lit up red, white, and blue that night. And with a pull of a few strings they had it done!
